I also asked for help from Siyuan and Jiayi to do the side view for the chef characters.
Lastly, I did the facial expressions for the main characters, just in case Yong Le needs it when animating them.

Week 01 (05/02/2026) :
This week, we had to compile all the work that we've done in Major Project 1, and share it with Ms Anis.
Below is the compilation for all the past works we've done last year.
Week 02 (12/02/2026) :
Our storyboard was changed, and hopefully this is the final change.
Instead of making an advertisement, we turned it into a story that shows the happy memories that a kid has about hotpot.
Week 03 (19/02/2026) :
I started working on the backgrounds first. I divided this work with my groupmate, Yong Le. I did the 2nd half while he did the 1st half. We try to follow the storyboard as closely as we could.

Week 04 (26/02/2026) :
I moved on to the characters. I begin with the turnarounds for the main characters, the dad, kid and mom. There's the front, left and right view for each of the characters.
Week 05 (05/03/2026) :
I continued with the rest of the backgrounds in the 2nd half of the story.

Lastly, I did the facial expressions for the main characters, just in case Yong Le needs it when animating them.
So far, I have done all my part for this project. I will continue providing my group with any help if needed.
4 FEEDBACK
Mr Kamal:
- Decide how long it is for 2d animation and 3d animation sections.
- Use excel to show each image, description, duration and who does that part.
- Can already start animating the scenes with no characters first.
- Divide task. 2 people do the graphics, 2 people do the animations.
- Finalise all assets this week.
Week 02 (12/02/2026) :
Mr Kamal :
- 2nd version is a bit hard to animate
- Storyboard looks good
- Don’t change the storyboard anymore
- Don’t use frame by frame, it takes too long
- Add some depth to each scene
- Proceed with this new storyboard
- Try with different animation styles
Mr Kannan :
- Keep the storyline simple
- Play with motion graphic
- Do a quick test in one scene
- The puppetry is too simple at the moment
- Look for reference
Week 03 (19/02/2026) :
Mr Kamal :
- Fix the perspective
- Don’t worry about colour, it can be changed later
- Kitchen can be brown, while dining area becomes blue
- Divide the tasks more equally. Help each other out
Week 04 (26/02/2026) :
Mr Kamal :
- Add subtle vignette to the wall
- Continue drawing the background
- Make sure render (3d model) must match the 2d style
- Explore flat/cartoon shading
- Find toon shade
- Try add 3d models into 2d scenes
- Can try animate one character first
- Test with the “chef cutting the meat” scene
Week 05 (05/03/2026) :
Mr Kamal :
- Character turnaround is nice
- Proceed to animation
- For walk cycle, do three steps then loop it
- Legs cannot just be swinging back and forth. Need to bend the knee
- 2 steps per sec
- Divide the animation tasks among the three animators in your group
- Make sure to finish it by 17/18th March
5 REFLECTION
It's been a year since I last saw this project. It was easy to get back on track because I had kept all of the original files and documents I needed for this project.
Thankfully, my groupmates also seemed to do the same. We managed to gather all the previous works we've had into one pdf file.
For now, we are working on all the assets that we need. The 2d character turnaround, facial expression, backgrounds and 3d models.
As an entertainment design student, this is my main job for this project. I have to draw most of the assets, adn after it's all done, I would hand it over to my groupmates so that they can start animating.
Next week, we would start the actual animation process.
