3    WEEKLY PROGRESS

Week 03 (08/05/2025) :

For this assignment, we have to choose a scene from a movie. Then, we have to make a set extension in the chosen scene. Since I had no idea what movie to choose because I don't watch a lot of movies, I decided to choose a suggestion from Mr Kannan which is The Mandalorian.

This week, I began the assignment by looking for a suitable scene. After that, I looked for any suitable things that I can add in the background. I then cut out the small things and arranged them in the background to show my first idea.

Week 04 (15/05/2025) :

Week 05 (22/05/2025) :

I tried to edit the picture during different times of the day. I chose to do 4 different times. I changed the background and the ambience.

Week 06 (29/05/2025) :

I looked for various pictures of fictional deserts. Then, I gathered some pieces here and there to create a few silhouette sketches.

Week 07 (05/06/2025) :

Week 08 (12/05/2025) :

Week 09 (26/06/2025) :

4    FINAL SUBMISSION

5    FEEDBACK

Week 04 (15/05/2025) :
Too much stuff going on.
Don't focus on the characters, but the environment.
Pick a time (morning, evening, night etc).
Canvas size is wide screen 16:9.

Week 05 (22/05/2025) :
Do more compositions before settling on the final one.
Don't play with a lot of colours.
Look for more Grand Canyon and desert reference pictures.

Week 06 (29/05/2025) :
Saturation is too high, makes it look too colourful.
Look at Wk3 Gumroad demo. Try to replicate it.
Do a silhouette sketch instead of straight away do the editing.

Week 07 (05/06/2025) :
Composition is a bit cluttered.
Push some things away from each other to create some negative space.
Try sketching until outside the canvas.
Add more light and shadows to show depth.

Week 08 (12/05/2025) :
Look at Gumroad 3 for reference.
Avoid adding to many things. Keep it simple.
Play around with lights, hue and saturation.
Try another different composition.

Week 09 (26/06/2025) :
No class

Week 10 (03/07/2025) :
Try extending the rock wall in front.
Add more rocks on the ground near the mountain.
Fix the colour correction - make sure it's not too washed.
Add a bit of brown tint to the mountains in the back.
Play around with colour correction.
Sharpen and blur certain areas.
